The motto "Soldiers Helping Soldiers" is a testimony to the ride's beginnings when a few soldiers of the 155 Brigade Combat Team of Mississippi, while still deployed in Iraq, put together the logistics for the first ever Dixie Thunder Run in 2006. The Dixie Thunder Run is a motorcycle ride to benefit deployed soldiers' families. As it spread by word of mouth, soldiers and supporters have joined over the past four years to make the Dixie Thunder Run one of the largest Motorcycle runs in Mississippi. Over the past four years all proceeds have been given to the Mississippi Emergency Family Relief Fund, however for our 5th anniversary year "2010" all of the proceeds will go to "Operation First Response" this is a Non- Profit group dedicated to the Men and Women who defend our Country each and every day. Operation First Response is on a National Level, and they specialize in Emergency assistance to Military Families. They cover all branches of the Military.
